This painting was done as an homage to the power of prayer and as a reminder to not lose faith, no matter how hopeless the situation may seem. It was inspired by an event in my life in which something that was lost, was found, and in that moment of finding what was lost I knew my prayers had been answered. In trying to recover this lost object, I had spent the day reciting a simple prayer to St. Therese: "Little Flower, in your hour, do your power". Soon after finding this lost object, I saw two roses in a place that did not have much vegetation and it struck me that these flowers were there to confirm that faith and prayer had a role in this.
I wanted to accentuate the two roses that helped inspire this piece, so each of the smaller roses are painted on a small canvas that has been juxtaposed onto the larger canvas. Presenting these smaller roses in this way also helps to convey a somewhat surreal feeling to the piece.
Music I listened to while making this piece: Jason Aldean, Bon Jovi, music from the TV series "Game of Thrones", music from the TV series "Downton Abbey"
