There is Always Hope
2004
Acrylic on Canvas- Mixed Media
This painting exhibited as part of a group show at the Aldo Castillo Gallery in Chicago, IL. The show was called "Art at War-- the Artist's Voice" and opened on September 11, 2004 in commemoration of 9/11. The show received much media attention and I felt very privileged to participate in a show with so many great artists, such as the late great Ed Paschke.

In the painting, I am presenting images of war against images of peace. Death, grief and the isolation of the soldier are seen. However, in the midst of war, it is through hope (the white flower) that we survive for we know good always conquers evil (Archangel Michael defeating the devil) and that the way to peace is through love (the heart against the woman's breast).

Music I listened to while creating this piece: U2, Pearl Jam, The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, The Doors
